Cristina Sterie
President – Romanian Institute of Schema Therapy
Advanced Schema Therapist, trainer and supervisor
Trainer and group Schema Therapy supervisor
When I discovered schema therapy, it was as if I had put together the pieces of a puzzle for which I had no assembly instructions. Over the course of time, I had learnt a lot of interesting things during the trainings undergone at various psychotherapy schools, but I needed a coherent system amid which I would be able to assemble those pieces so that they would make sense together. ST has provided me with this framework and allowed me to flexible and creative with all the knowledge I have accumulated.
As early as my faculty years, I began working with clients both individually and in groups, being an eager volunteer with the Oncology Institute and certain associations and foundations that handled people with disabilities or in difficult circumstances. Throughout my years of practice, I sought and managed to get in touch with people as diverse as possible and issues as miscellaneous as possible, in order to learn as much as possible and gain that broader perspective on what defines humanity and each individual’s inner torment.
All these experiences have helped me learn and grow not only from a professional, but also from a personal standpoint and I believe that, as I evolved as a human being, I also managed to thrive as a professional.
Fascination for human nature and, likewise, challenges derived from working with people have never ceased to exist. Despite having learned a lot and about a lot, there is a constant emergence of new opportunities to understand, through new perspectives, various aspects of life and relationships with others.
I am glad to have the privilege of conducting a work that is so dynamic and provides in return so many opportunities to develop myself in all respects. Every day I am grateful for my path!
